No.
You do not need a referral from your doctor/GP/healthcare professional to take a myDNA test, however you may need a healthcare professional to assist with interpreting your results. We provide you with information about how your body is likely to respond to aspects of your health and wellness, not diagnostic testing.
However, you are always welcome to share your results with your healthcare professional to assist them with their diagnosing or health recommendations.
If you are purchasing a myDNA Personalised Medications kit (Single or Multi Category), you will be required to nominate a healthcare professional to receive your results. It is necessary that your doctor/pharmacist/GP is aware of your results for future prescribing considerations and can also assist you in understanding/interpreting your medications results.
Note: Even though you don’t need a referral, myDNA tests are considered to be a type of health record. We are required by law to retain a digital copy of data as per the Health Record Act (2001). This information is confidential. We are not allowed, in any circumstances, to release any information without your consent and any data that we hold cannot be used without your permission.
If you’re unsure about our testing, we recommend speaking to your doctor. Even though they will not need to provide you a referral, they will be best poised to determine whether myDNA testing is right for you.
