Our goal is to educate our members of the research relating to the specific genes they've inherited - something that will never change – and provide recommendations for what they can do with that information.
We adhere to our evidence rating scale which ensures we only use peer-reviewed research based on extensive and conclusive human trials of people with the same genetic variations as you. However, even in these trials there will be outliers proving exception to the rule. This can be due to lifestyle factors, pre-existing conditions, or purely because other, as-yet-unresearched, genes are unknowingly playing a role.
While in some cases these unknowns can create conflicting results for our members, the lifestyle element is actually our strongest lever to building out plans that can take advantage of your genetic blueprint – your genes are not your destiny!
For example, your genetic profile may indicate you are predisposed to a higher BMI. But if you’ve maintained a healthy lifestyle, including a low-calorie diet and regular moderate exercise, then that will override the negative effects, which (for this genetic profile) also makes it more difficult for you to put the weight back on.
Where can you uncover this information?
- Each insight category is broken into a series of individual insights. Sometimes these are derived from a single genetic variation, or they could be the combination of multiple genetic variations as they behave together.
- Inside each insight you’ll find a summary of your personal result, details of what the scientific evidence shows for people with your result and personalized recommendations
- At the bottom of each insight category, you’ll also be able to find the exact genetic variations you hold, these are called SNPs.
Despite all this great insight, there are no silver bullets when it comes to managing your weight or fitness (despite what you might have heard). Our insights and plans can help you make more informed decisions, but no matter what’s in your genes you need to be prepared to work towards your goals. Thankfully our plans allow you to do so sustainably and 65% of our members successfully implement long term changes to their routines.
